Granite setts to Georgian house, South London

Original Stone Paving would like to wish all our readers a Happy and prosperous New Year!

The following is a project we have recently undertaken in the South London area.  Quick reminder that we are available to work all over London, or indeed anywhere in the UK and beyond.

The remit for this project was to take out the front and side gardens and replace with 100+ year  old reclaimed 4" x 4" granite setts.   We were called in after the original contractor had gone AWOL leaving behind a sorry looking mess and exposed utility cables (as can be seen in first and third photographs.)

The original wall which had stood for 130 years or more was in a poor state of repair and was falling over.  7 foot x 2 foot portland stone copings were all that was holding the wall together.   We had to cut these down in situ to safely lift off.  Once the copings were removed the wall fell down.

The bricks from the wall were cleaned and stacked ready to be reused.  Once site had been cleared and prepped the work could begin.    Staring with leanmix Gen. 20 concrete laid on wet london clay.

Once the setts arrived from Ribble Reclamation in Preston, space really was at a premium.

First of the setts, bands going in laid on 4/1 sharp sand cement.

Nothing gets between the Cookie crew and their food, lamb shoulder cooking in halogen oven for tea.

Setts laid to front, now need to move setts by hand to lay to wall.

Change of levels was required front of house to rear entrance.

Cookie crew member "The Big Yin" had no where to mix and had to go old school with the crank handle (not one of his favourite appliances.)

Path to front door completed, now you can see that change of level.

 Slurry 3/1 before resin.

We rebuilt the regency wall  to same batter as 130 years ago copings back on and using as many of the original bricks as possible.

Finished area ready for 2 part epoxy resin romex basalt.

We are awaiting pictures of the completed works from the client, as soon as we have these blog will be updated.

If you would like to contact Cookie to discuss this or any of our work you can find him on his mobile: 07968 582231, on twitter, via the website or via email.
